A community group was formed in 1997 in Cumberland County, N.J. with the main purpose of self-supporting individuals with diabetes. It was named "Diabeticos Hispanos". The television program, Perfil Latino, is a branch of a 501 (c) 3 organization that educates about health and social issues and works to increase cultural awareness and bridge bilingual understanding. DH/Perfil Latino TV, Inc. was incorporated in 2001, and has since been dedicated to helping the Latino community specifically in southern New Jersey.
The mission of Diabeticos Hispanos /Perfil Latino TV, Inc. is to improve living conditions through education in general. Through a television program, as well as through community classes, events and presentations, we offer a variety of services, particularly to the Latino community. We offer ESL, Reading, Writing, and Health Management classes. Since the late 1990's, we have participated and supported the organization of yearly celebrations for the local Latino communities for special holidays such as Latin Heritage History Month, Multicultural Art Exhibits, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and December 12 for the Virgin of Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence Day and more. DH/PLTV, Inc. believes in reaching out to our community and is always eager to help bridge the cultural gap. We support and help host educational, social and health programs to educate local communities.
Our organization is available to do community outreach/education events; group education sessions and training of volunteers in all our initiatives, especially Diabetes Program The DH/PLTV, Inc. staff and team members are proactive, empowering, and energized to help build better communities. We are always seeking for more volunteers and organizations to achieve our goals.
